About Nano Banana
What Nano Banana Is
Nano Banana is an AI creative studio for video and images. Describe a shot in plain language, and it handles the camera work, lighting, sound and rendering — no production team, no editing timeline, no render farm required.
Nano Banana itself isn't a single model we trained from scratch. It's a routing layer: every prompt is sent to whichever underlying AI model fits that specific shot best, then wrapped in prompt scaffolding, platform presets and consistent settings tuned for the tool you're using.
- For images, that's primarily Google's Nano Banana and Nano Banana Pro models, alongside other image models available on individual tool pages.
- For video, that includes Kling, Veo 3.1, Sora 2, Seedance and Wan, hosted through providers such as fal.ai and Replicate.
You can let Nano Banana pick a model automatically, or choose one yourself on any tool page.
About the Name "Nano Banana"
We didn't invent this name in a vacuum — we borrowed it from the AI community. In mid-2025, Google DeepMind quietly tested a new image-generation model on LMArena, a public blind-comparison leaderboard, under the throwaway codename "Nano Banana." It topped the image-editing leaderboard, the nickname spread, and it stuck — even after Google officially shipped the model as Gemini 2.5 Flash Image. Google has since leaned into the name itself, launching its next-generation flagship image model under the official banner "Nano Banana Pro" (Gemini 3 Pro Image). Google tells the full story on its own blog.
This product is built around routing every prompt to the best available model for the shot, and Google's Nano Banana models are consistently among the strongest choices for image generation — so we borrowed the name for ourselves too.
To be clear: Nano Banana (this product) is an independent, third-party service. We are not Google, we did not create the Gemini or Nano Banana models, and we have no partnership with, endorsement from, or official affiliation with Google or any other AI lab whose models we route to. We simply connect to their public APIs, the same way any independent software product connects to a cloud API.

Everything you generate is yours. Use it in ads, product listings, social content or client work — paid plans export watermark-free.
Why We Built It This Way
Prompting the raw models yourself works, but it means learning a different interface for every provider, rewriting your prompt for each model's quirks, and manually matching settings to whatever platform you're exporting for. Nano Banana adds the production layer instead: automatic model routing, prompt scaffolding tuned per tool, and platform presets — so the shot you get on the first try is usable, not just the fifteenth.
